Lilongwe Water Board (LWB) is set to host the 95th Strategic and Technical Council (STC) session of the Africa Water and Sanitation Association (AFWASA) from 21st to 24th July 2025inLilongwe, Malawi, under the theme Green Economy and Climate Resilience in Africa.”

The high-level conference will bring together over 200 delegates from across the continent—including policymakers, technical experts, researchers, and development partners—for four days of technical workshops, panel discussions, exhibitions, and case studies aimed at promoting innovation, knowledge exchange, and collaboration in the water and sanitation sector.

This marks the second time LWB has been entrusted with hosting the event, having previously organized the 75th STC session in 2016. Since then, LWB has actively benefited from AFWASA-led capacity-building initiatives in non-revenue water reduction, water quality improvement, and sanitation service enhancement, supported by partners such as USAID and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

LWB CEO and AFWASA Vice President for Southern Africa, Silli Mbewe, highlighted the importance of the event, stating, Being selected once again to host this important event reflects the trust AFWASA places in our institution. We are proud to welcome Africa’s top minds to Lilongwe.”

Founded in 1980, AFWASA is Africa’s leading network for advancing sustainable water and sanitation through best practices and strategic partnerships.
