Information Technology Officer (Systems Administrator)

Purpose of the job

The System Administrator will be responsible for installation, configuration, maintenance and security of LWB’s IT infrastructure. This role ensures optimal system performance, reliability, and availability while troubleshooting issues, implementing upgrades, and providing technical support to end-users.

Key Duties and Responsibilities 

  1. Install, configure, maintain and upgrade servers, operating systems (Windows/Linux), and enterprise applications
  2. Recommend the redesign and configuration of operating systems and system applications
  3. Investigate and analyse the feasibility of system requirements and develop system specifications
  4. Perform software application installations, upgrades, licensing, documentation and troubleshooting
  5. Continuously monitor system performance and resource utilisation, and troubleshoot and make necessary adjustments to optimise efficiency and ensure high availability
  6. Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls in Active Directory
  7. Perform regular data and system backups and disaster recovery planning
  8. Conduct periodic system restoration tests and disaster recovery drills
  9. Implement and enforce cybersecurity policies
  10. Administer and maintain the VMware environment, including patching, upgrades, and performance optimisation
  11. Provide technical support for IT equipment and resolve IT-related issues for employees
  12. Document system configurations, procedures, changes and incidents
  13. Collaborate with IT team to plan and execute IT infrastructure upgrades
  14. Supervising and appraising staff below him or her
  15. Ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System, ITIL practices, and other regulatory requirements
  16. Demonstrating outstanding commitment to service delivery programmes of the Board by personally identifying and reporting water bursts/leakages to customer care division of which verifiable repair records shall be tendered to be used as one of the components for assessment during one’s performance appraisal time.

Minimum Academic, Professional Qualifications and Work Experience

  1. A minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Computer Science or any related field
  2. At least 2 years working experience in preferably in systems administration
  3. Proficient in Windows/Linux OS, Active Directory, scripting (PowerShell/Bash/Python)
  4. Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and security protocols
  5. Ability to support virtual and cloud environments (VMware, Azure and Google Apps)
  6. Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
