Chiseka Magistrate Court has convicted two men in separate cases heard before Her Worship, Senior Magistrate Rose Chirwa.

In the first case, Ackim Limbikani, 25, of Mtonjwe Village, T/A Masumba, Lilongwe, was found guilty of criminal trespass.

He was sentenced to 2 years’ imprisonment with hard labour, but upon further deliberation, the sentence was suspended on condition that he pays K300,000.

The second case followed with the conviction of 49-year-old Monjeza Kalimwayi, of Chikombole Village, T/A Kachule, Lilongwe, for cutting trees without authority. Kalimwayi has been sentenced to 2 years imprisonment with hard labour.

The convictions serve as a strong warning that criminal trespass and the illegal cutting of trees that, in turn, create hindrances in supplying water to our communities will not be tolerated, and that those who break the law will face stiff penalties.
