E-Madzi Innovation is a pre-paid electronic payment system that allows consumers to buy water from communal water selling points (kiosks) at any time using smart cards. Customers use their E-Madzi smart cards on swiping machines that are installed on kiosks.
E-Madzi initiative is designed to increase water access in all low-income areas within LWB’s catchment area. The innovation allows customers to buy water at any time of the day while paying less than the normal kiosk fixed water price.
Currently, 91 kiosks have been equipped with E-Madzi ATM machines in various areas, and 28 kiosks are under construction.
